About Dr. Virk

Hartaj S. Virk, MD, is a dual board-certified cardiovascular disease specialist and interventional cardiologist. He welcomes patients at North Jersey Vascular Center in Clifton, New Jersey, where he specializes in endovascular procedures and treats the full scope of cardiovascular diseases.

Dr. Virk received his medical degree from Government Medical College in Patiala, Punjab, one of the most prestigious medical colleges in India. He completed an internship and worked at the Government Medical College as an emergency medical officer before immigrating to the United States.

Dr. Virk completed his internal medicine residency at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, Seton Hall University (SHU), School of Health and Medical Sciences, in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He continued his training at SHU, completing cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships at St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Before joining North Jersey Vascular Center, Dr. Virk worked under Dr. Nelson Bernardo at Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC. During this time, Dr. Virk utilized advanced technical skills for the management of complex peripheral interventions, including carotid and abdominal aortic aneurysms. He also has experience as an assistant professor of clinical medicine at New York Medical College School of Medicine in Valhalla.

With a broad background in cardiovascular research, Dr. Virk has extensively published his results in peer-reviewed scientific journals. He also frequently presents his findings at professional meetings for groups such as the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology, and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Virk, a member of the American College of Cardiology, stays actively involved in volunteer opportunities, ranging from the Pulse Polio Immunization program sponsored by the World Health Organization to volunteer work at the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Hamilton, New Jersey, and breast cancer screening at the Oncology Center at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
